I’ve spent the majority of my time since high school caring for children. Children have added so much to my life. Each child that I’ve had the privilege of caring for has left a special place in my heart.

Gift Giving at Christmas
It’s that time of year when we often think of blessing our family and friends with gifts. I often wish for creative yet non-elaborate ideas that will be appreciated and useful.
Here are some gift giving ideas and personal thoughts on Christmas giving:
A Craigslist “Steal” Isn’t Always a Deal!
We’ve been looking for a microwave hutch since our recent move. I’ve been fairly selective about what it should look like; however, the perfect one wasn’t appearing on Craigslist as soon as I was wanting it to. Then on Black Friday afternoon we noticed a white hutch on Craigslist that looked like it had potential for the small vacant space beside our fridge. Initially, when I saw the hutch I wasn’t thrilled with all of its decorative features; however, I decided it would probably be workable. I also knew purchasing a microwave hutch would result in more counter top space in our kitchen. Certainly, this was a win-win situation. Right? Eric called the person who had listed it and asked if we could come yet that afternoon to pick it up.

Our New Country Home
We are moved and mostly settled! Moving day went well thanks to our family. Their help was much appreciated and made the job so much easier. Also, my cousin who’s on the hospitality committee brought a delicious lunch for the hungry crew. Thanks, Liz!
Reflections on This Past Thanksgiving Season
I tried several times to write down my thoughts over the Thanksgiving season. However, my thoughts were jumbled, physically I wasn’t feeling well, and I was struggling to honestly express gratitude in the midst of some of our present circumstances.

A Birthday Tribute to my Mom
My dear mother is celebrating her 55th birthday today.
She will be at home attending to Yoder’s Store so the rest of the family can help Eric and I move. The guys will be packing our furniture and appliances on a large trailer. We’ll then head for our little home in the country where all the unpacking can begin! My kind mother will then likely come over to help me sort through some of the boxes and make sense out of all the chaos.
Learning to Choose Gratitude in Everyday Life
Our moving date is just around the corner! I must admit I’m ready to leave hectic city life behind. I’m anticipating the quiet of country life.

Life Lessons from Drinking Tea
Chilly describes these last couple of nights; I’m grateful for our warm, cozy apartment.
During this time of year there’s nothing quite like a steaming cup of Java or tea to warm you. Additionally, there is something to be said for sipping a beverage with a friend. The warmth penetrates your heart. I’ve been blessed with several recent opportunities to share with friends in this way. Time with others is a gift.
Seeking
I recently heard a sermon preached by Lael Barkman on the Kingdom of God. He noted that our relationship with God is what it is.
Moving
My husband and I are in the process of moving to the country!
